Civil Engineering

Practical civil engineering solutions for drainage, access and site development.

RCC Engineers provides civil engineering design and documentation for residential, commercial and subdivision projects. Our approach combines practical design, regulatory compliance and constructability to deliver solutions suited to the site, project requirements and relevant authority standards.

Our capabilities include stormwater drainage, OSD and retention systems, WSUD, LPOD connections, subdivisions, site grading and earthworks, roads, driveways, carparks, pavements and pump drainage systems. Where civil infrastructure interfaces with buildings, retaining structures or other structural elements, our civil and structural engineers work together to provide a coordinated engineering solution.

Residential, Commercial & Multi-Lot Subdivisions

RCC Engineers provides civil engineering for residential, commercial and multi-lot subdivision projects.

Depending on the project stage and authority requirements, the scope may include drainage, road and access design, grading, lot levels and supporting civil documentation for approval and construction.

SERVICE 02 / 14

Stormwater Drainage Design

RCC Engineers designs stormwater drainage systems based on site levels, contributing catchments, rainfall, impervious areas, available discharge conditions, overland flow and relevant council or authority requirements.

The design may include pits, pipes, surface drainage, connection details and associated stormwater documentation.

SERVICE 03 / 14

On-Site Detention (OSD) & Retention Systems

Where required, RCC Engineers designs on-site detention and retention systems integrated with the overall site drainage strategy.

The design considers allowable discharge, required storage, catchment areas, outlet controls, overflow arrangements, available levels and applicable authority requirements.

Civil Engineering
SERVICE 04 / 14

Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD)

RCC Engineers can incorporate Water Sensitive Urban Design measures where stormwater-quality treatment is required.

Depending on the site and approval requirements, solutions may include raingardens, treatment systems, infiltration measures, rainwater reuse and other appropriate stormwater-quality measures.

Build Over Easement Assessments

Where proposed building or development works interact with an existing easement or underground infrastructure, RCC Engineers can provide engineering input appropriate to the authority requirements and available service information.

The required assessment depends on the easement, asset location, proposed structure, foundation arrangement and requirements of the relevant authority.

SERVICE 07 / 14

Pumped Stormwater & Basement Drainage Systems

Where gravity drainage cannot be achieved, RCC Engineers can design pumped drainage systems.

The design considers contributing catchment, required storage, pump arrangement, operating levels, emergency storage, overflow strategy and discharge conditions together with the overall site drainage system.

Roads, Driveways, Crossovers & Carparks

RCC Engineers provides civil design for roads, driveways, accessways, crossovers and carparks.

Depending on the project, the design may address levels, longitudinal and cross falls, grades, drainage, pavement requirements, tie-ins to existing infrastructure and applicable authority standards.

Civil Engineering
SERVICE 09 / 14

Pavement Design

RCC Engineers provides pavement engineering for accessways, carparks, roads and other trafficable areas where pavement design forms part of the civil scope.

Design considerations may include expected traffic loading, subgrade information, pavement materials, drainage and relevant project or authority requirements.

SERVICE 10 / 14

Site Grading, Earthworks & Overland Flow

RCC Engineers develops site grading and earthworks solutions considering proposed finished levels, building interfaces, retaining structures, adjoining properties and drainage requirements.

Overland flow paths are considered so that major stormwater flows can be directed appropriately when the underground drainage system is exceeded.

Civil Engineering
SERVICE 11 / 14

Erosion & Sediment Control

Where required for approval or construction, RCC Engineers can prepare erosion and sediment control measures to manage runoff and sediment movement during site works.

The requirements are developed in response to the site conditions, proposed earthworks, drainage arrangement and relevant authority requirements.

Civil Engineering
SERVICE 12 / 14

Civil Drainage & Construction Documentation

RCC Engineers prepares civil engineering drawings, calculations and supporting documentation for approval, contractor pricing and construction where included within the project scope.

Documentation may cover drainage, levels, earthworks, access, pavement and associated civil works.

Civil Engineering
SERVICE 13 / 14

Council / Authority RFI Responses

Where RCC Engineers is engaged for the project, we can review engineering comments or Requests for Information issued by councils and other authorities.

Technical responses, calculations and amendments to engineering documentation can be prepared where required within the agreed scope.

SERVICE 14 / 14

Existing-Site Drainage Investigation & Remediation

Drainage problems on existing sites can result from inadequate surface falls, blocked or undersized systems, unsuitable discharge arrangements, changes to surrounding levels or ineffective stormwater management.

RCC Engineers can investigate the existing drainage conditions, identify likely contributing factors and provide engineering recommendations or remedial drainage design where appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What clients ask most before engaging us on this work. If your question isn’t listed, call us and speak with an engineer.

Stormwater design considers the contributing catchments, rainfall, site levels, impervious areas, drainage paths, nominated discharge point, detention or retention requirements, overland flow and relevant council or authority requirements. The drainage solution is developed specifically for the site rather than applying a standard layout.

A Legal Point of Discharge (LPOD) is the approved location where stormwater from a property is permitted to discharge into the council drainage system. Depending on the site, this may be a kerb and channel, council pit, underground drain or other nominated connection point. RCC Engineers uses the LPOD information to design the site drainage, connection levels and any required detention or flow-control measures.

On-site detention temporarily stores stormwater and releases it at a controlled rate to reduce peak discharge. Retention stores water for reuse, infiltration or other purposes and may reduce the volume discharged from the site. Some projects require a combination of both systems.

Yes. Where gravity drainage is constrained by site levels or the available discharge point, RCC Engineers can assess alternative arrangements such as adjusted grading, detention, pumped drainage or other engineered solutions subject to authority requirements.

Yes. RCC Engineers can design OSD, retention and WSUD measures where required by the planning permit, council, authority or project brief and integrate them with the overall site drainage system.

Yes. RCC Engineers can provide drainage, roads, access, site grading and associated civil engineering documentation for residential, commercial and multi-lot subdivisions, subject to the relevant authority and project requirements.

Yes. Where engaged for the project, RCC Engineers can review council or authority engineering comments, provide technical responses and revise the design and documentation where required.
